Lamrim Retreat
2 - 8 June
Mahasiddha Buddhist Centre, Bondi Junction

Lamrim
This retreat will help us to discover for ourself the inner peace and clarity of mind that comes from meditation. Lamrim is a series of twenty-one special Buddhist meditations that lead to increasingly peaceful and beneficial states of mind. Together they form the entire path to enlightenment. By practising these meditations, we can transform our life by using it to fulfil our spiritual potential and find lasting happiness.

Retreat
During a retreat we reduce our normal worldly activities and concentrate for a period of time on developing spiritual qualities and peaceful minds.

Sessions
There are four sessions a day. Each session lasts for one-and-a-half hours and consists of chanted prayers sung in English and a silent period for reading, contemplating and Lamrim meditation. You are welcome to drop in for any or all of the retreat sessions and there is no charge.

Australasian Festival
31 December 08 - 4 January 09
with Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab
Kadampa Meditation Centre Australia, Melbourne

Join us for the 2008 Australasian Kadampa Buddhist Festival with Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab, the Deputy Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition. The Festival is a unique opportunity to enjoy a spiritual holiday of teachings, meditations and empowerments, in the company of spiritual practitioners from all over Australasia.

During the Festival, Gen-la will grant the empowerments of Je Tsongkhapa and Dorje Shugden and give teachings on how to maintain a joyful approach to our practice of Buddha’s teachings. An empowerment is an opportunity to make a special connection with an enlightened being so that we can receive their constant care and protection. Relying on Je Tsongkhapa and Dorje Shugden, manifestations of the wisdom Buddha Manjushri, is the heart practice of Kadampa Buddhism.

In order to complete the spiritual journey to enlightenment we also need a firm determination to not stop until we have accomplished our extraordinary goal. Through understanding our supreme destination, we can enjoy our spiritual practice throughout our whole life.

The Teacher
Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab is the Deputy Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition - International Kadampa Buddhist Union, and the Resident Teacher at Manjushri KMC, the Mother Centre of Kadampa Buddhism. Gen-la has studied and practised Kadampa Buddhism since 1980 under the guidance of his Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. His teachings, humility and kindness exemplify the essence of the Buddhist way of life. He is a perfect example of a Kadampa Teacher.

The Venue
The Festival will be hosted by Kadampa Meditation Centre Australia (KMCA), a beautiful Kadampa Buddhist Centre in the Dandenong Ranges about an hour’s drive from Melbourne. Set amongst acres of lush forest and boasting
spectacular mountain views, it is an ideal place for engaging in retreat and for enjoying inner peace. For more information about other events held at KMCA visit www.kadampa.org.au.

All proceeds from the Festival will be donated to the NKT-IKBU International Temples Project – an inspiring vision to create a temple dedicated to world peace in every major city throughout the world. For more information on this project visit www.kadampa.org/en/centers/international-temples-project.
